Mellien – The third generation of grinding art
In the heart of the Vysočina Mountains, in the town of Světlá nad Sázavou, an exceptional craft has been passed down from generation to generation for almost a century – the art of hand-cut crystal.
The story of Mellien is the story of the Kratochvíl family, who carry this tradition with pride and humility. It all began in the first half of the 20th century, when the first members of the family worked in small glass workshops and quickly acquired their precision and skill.
The second generation continued as master cutters at the renowned company Sklo Bohemia, where their expertise became part of the global export of Czech crystal.
Today, the third generation of the Kratochvíl family is returning to its roots – to honest, handcrafted beauty, to every detail, to the soul of every piece of glass.
From this passion, the Mellien brand was born – a fusion of family tradition, artistic vision and the highest quality.
